David Moyes could prove to be the sticking point for Everton as they look to raid Sunderland.
Everton will have already started planning for the summer transfer window, to get off to a good start and continue the progression since Moyes arrived on Merseyside.
The Scotsman has already had a positive influence at Goodison Park, but the Toffees will need to recruit smartly in the summer to provide him with the tools to grow even further.
However, his history has been highlighted as one of the reasons that Everton may fall short in their bid to sign one of England’s hottest prospects.

Everton keen on signing Sunderland wonderkid
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Everton hold an interest in signing Chris Rigg [Sky Sports], who has enjoyed a spectacular campaign with Sunderland when taking into account his age.

At just 17 years old, Rigg has cemented his place in the first team on Wearside, attracting interest from top clubs worldwide, but Sunderland journalist Michael Graham, when speaking exclusively to Goodison News, shared the one doubt he would have over the deal.
“People tell me Manchester United would be a good move for him, and there isn’t much difference between them and Everton these days,” explained Graham.

Rigg has impressed for the majority of the campaign for Sunderland.
“I think Everton would be a great move for him, to be honest. He would get football in a new stadium in front of great fans who would appreciate him. Everton are such a brilliant club that it’s never a bad move for anyone.
“My only reservation would be David Moyes. Does he have a great record of bringing through young players? Declan Rice aside, I’m struggling to think of many.
*“He’s 17 and obviously needs time, but he can play at Premier League level, even if he wouldn’t be starting every week. The question he needs to ask himself is whether that would be good for his development or whether he’s better off staying at Sunderland and playing every game.*“

Rigg would be a smart move by Everton
While Everton will be keen on adding some players to improve the team immediately this summer, they must have one eye on the future as well.
Rigg would fit that bill perfectly, while also being able to play a part in the short term if managed correctly by Moyes.
First team football is crucial to development at a young age, though managed minutes are arguably just as important to ensure that these young players aren’t driven into the ground.
