Brock Purdy’s Future with 49ers Receives Big Update

As a seventh-round pick for the San Francisco 49ers, Brock Purdy has already surpassed all expectations, taking over as the team's starter and has solidified himself as a franchise quarterback.

Now, he's set to enter the final season of his four-year, $3.7 million rookie contract, with Spotrac placing his market value at $59.7 million annually, which would make him the second-highest-paid quarterback by yearly salary.

During an appearance on "The Herd," Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports revealed a big update on when an extension could be coming and what the true price tag could look like.

"There is no way the season starts in 2025, and Brock Purdy does not have a multiyear extension, three, four years," he said. "And I believe that number is going to start with a five…. I don't think it gets into Dak [Prescott] territory."

When looking at some of his accolades, it's hard to argue that he doesn't deserve a large extension, finishing third in Offensive Rookie of the Year, making one Pro Bowl and finishing fourth in MVP voting in 2023.

He also had solid numbers through his first three years, appearing in 40 games and completing 722-of-1,069 passes for 9,518 yards, 64 touchdowns, 27 interceptions, and a 104.9 passer rating.

Even if it is unlikely Purdy matches Prescott's $60 million per year price tag, hitting at least $50 million is something only 10 other quarterbacks have done in NFL history.
