However, ESPN journalist Rob Dawson has now reported that the goalkeeper intends to stay and fight for his future at the club.

The reporter further notes that Ruben Amorim is looking to reshuffle his squad in his first full transfer window after the season ends. However, despite the interest from Saudi Arabia, Onana intends to stay with the Red Devils and “will only consider leaving if told” that he’s surplus to requirements at the club. According to Dawson, United are looking at the possibility of signing a new goalkeeper in the summer, with Tom Heaton set to leave and doubts creeping up on the future of Altay Bayindir.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper has had quite the eventful 2024/25 season with the Red Devils and has remained as their undisputed no.1 in goal, only missing six games across all competitions. The Cameroonian, who arrived at Old Trafford in 2023 from Inter Milan as David de Gea’s replacement, is rumoured to be earning £200,000-a-week and is contracted until the end of June, 2028. It’s now on the Red Devils to make a final decision on sticking with him or offloading him to buy a new goalkeeper in the summer.
