Mick Brown provides the latest on Adam Wharton’s future
Former Tottenham scout, Mick Brown, who also spent a decade at Old Trafford serving as Man United’s chief scout for a lot of that time, has revealed what his sources have told him about the race for Adam Wharton.
He stated that Wharton has emerged as a target for both Manchester clubs, explaining that while the Red Devils might not have the finances to sign the Eagles man, Pep Guardiola’s men are well-placed to do so.
When asked about the England international future, Brown told Football Insider: “Man United are interested in Adam Wharton. But I can’t see them winning a bidding war, especially if Manchester City are involved.

“Their finances aren’t in a position at the moment to compete with sides like that. I think if it came down to it, Man City would be his most likely destination because they’re the ones who are financially able to pull it off. They’ll be the front-runners in that particular race.”
Crystal Palace will fight to keep hold of Wharton
Brown also made it clear that it will not be easy to prise the Tottenham Hotspur target away from Selhurst Park this summer.
He remarked that Oliver Glasner’s men have no intention of letting Wharton go and are expected to demand top dollar for the midfielder if anyone comes knocking.
Brown added: “Palace are going to set a huge asking price to even think about letting him go. He’s a top player and would be a top signing wherever he went. They don’t want to sell him, and I think they’ll be able to keep hold of him this summer because he’s under a long contract.”
