"I can't wait to get started" - Gary Neville agrees new role as Man Utd legend attempts fresh challenge away from…

Gary Neville has a busy lifestyle that gives a strong impression that he would try his hand at anything.

The Manchester United legend, who spent his entire playing career at Old Trafford, has been involved in multiple projects since announcing his retirement 14 years ago.

Gary Neville’s projects include a property development company, The Overlap podcast, two hotels in Manchester and the co-ownership of Salford City.

Neville’s newfound career in business saw him invited to join the team on Dragon’s Den last year.

The 50-year-old also stepped out of his comfort zone when he stunned fans by appearing on stage with indie rock band Reytons at Aviva Studios in Manchester earlier this month.

All of this shows that Neville is willing to try anything and it begs the question what next?

Neville hopes he can take the success he enjoyed on the pitch into his business career after winning eight Premier League titles, the Champions League on two separate occasions, three FA Cups and more.

Norqain are preparing to break into the UK and Irish markets so they’ve added Neville to the company’s board after the former United right-back made a significant but undisclosed investment in the watchmaker.

Speaking about his new role at Norqain, Neville revealed that he shares the same vision as the company.

“I’ve been following Norqian for some time and really admire the band’s values and innovative, sporting timepieces,” Neville said, as quoted by The Sun.

“As a challenger brand in the Swiss watch industry, Norqain is a perfect fit for me, and I’m thrilled to join Ben [Kuuffer, CEO] and the team as a partner in the business here in the UK and Ireland.

“We share the same vision and challenger spirit, and I can’t wait to get started.”

However, buying watches from Norqain cost a staggering price, with products on their website ranging from £1,920, up to £10,900.

Norqain CEO, Kuffer, is excited about the prospect of working with Neville, who he considers an ‘outstanding entrepreneur’.

“I’ve played and followed football all my life,” Kuffer said. “Gary’s leadership and captaincy on the pitch were legendary, and he is not only a fantastic person but also an outstanding entrepreneur.”

Gary Neville role on Old Trafford task force

It has already been documented that former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has his finger in many pies.

Neville was also appointed to a task force charged with exploring the regeneration of Old Trafford, with plans for a new stadium recently announced by United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Back in September 2024, during an interview with The Athletic, Neville described his role after being appointed by Ratcliffe and Ineos chiefs.

“To be part of a body of people who have fan or stakeholder interest – be it local councils, the mayor, business people, real estate developers, universary representation. The reason I was chosen is multi-faceted: I played for United, I support United, I’ve got a business in the area, a university too.

“We’re all there not to help Manchester United build the best stadium but to make sure that the best outcome is arrived at for everybody in Trafford, Greater Manchester and beyond. We know that Manchester United want to build or refurbish/redevelop. We don’t know which solution will be arrived at.

“We are there to represent the local and wider community. There is massive potential for something transformational. There are up to 100 acres around that stadium and the task force forms part of a wider consultation with fans, the community — there’s national representation on there as well.

“It’s not just about a football stadium. It’s a wide body of people and we don’t want to miss any part of the opportunity around employment, education, health, jobs, infrastructure and transport. Whatever Manchester United do with the stadium will be the catalyst.”
