The one stat that shows Chelsea could be about to sign an even better dribbler than Vinicius Junior

There could be some changes in the winger department at Chelsea this summer.

Some of Chelsea‘s current wide men are being linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge, while it is believed that the club will try to strengthen in that area.

Noni Madueke is one player who could leave west London. It is being reported that Madueke is wanted by other Premier League clubs.

As for incomings, Chelsea are thought to have an interest in Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

Nico Williams completing more dribbles than Vinicius Junior

Chelsea have reportedly opened talks with Williams’ people in their bid to land the 22-year-old in the next transfer window.

If Enzo Maresca does manage to get his hands on him, the Chelsea manager will be acquiring a wide attacker who is great at taking on defenders.

In fact, according to WhoScored, Williams has completed 143 dribbles in La Liga since the start of last season. That is more than what Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has managed.

Most successful dribbles in La Liga since the start of last season:

◉ 171 – Lamine Yamal

◉ 143 – Nico Williams

◎ 129 – Vinícius Júnior

It is not hard to see, then, why Chelsea would want to bring Williams to Stamford Bridge. This is not the first time that the Blues have shown interest in him either.

Last summer, Chelsea also targeted Williams but were unable to complete a deal for the Spaniard in the end.

But it looks like they could get another chance at it when the transfer market opens again.

Chelsea’s best dribbler this season

Perhaps not as good as Williams, but Chelsea do have some decent dribblers in their own squad.

The above includes Jadon Sancho, who is currently completing the most dribbles per league game in Chelsea’s squad.

Rank Player Dribbles per game

1. Jadon Sancho 1.8

2. Cole Palmer 1.4

3. Noni Madueke 1.2

4. Pedro Neto 0.9

5. Enzo Fernandez/Nicolas Jackson 0.8

Maresca may not have the 25-year-old in his ranks for much longer, however. Chelsea signed Sancho on loan from Manchester United with an obligation to buy last August.

If they pay a £5m fee to their Premier League rivals, though, then Chelsea will not have to buy Sancho. And based on reports, it looks like the Blues are giving serious consideration to doing that.
