But the winger has been ramping up his return from injury over recent weeks and is now on the verge of making his comeback.

Saka has set his sights on being available for the powderkeg Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid at the Emirates on April 8.

And the talisman looks poised to be involved before then after sending the Gooners a two-word message on Instagram.

Captioning a picture of him with his thumbs up and back out on the grass for the first time, he said: "Hello again."

Mikel Arteta's side are back in action at home to London rivals Fulham on Tuesday and Saka could feature.

The Premier League giants then face Everton at Goodison Park before the mouthwatering visit of Real Madrid.

Saka's imminent return sparked an outpouring of relief on social media as fans flooded his post with comments.

Speaking before the international break, boss Arteta said: “He’s getting closer, he’s stepping up and making a very good progress I would say,” said Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta before the international break.

“So, let’s see when we start to throw him in with the team, how he reacts and how fit he can get quickly.”
