Rangers are set to enter a new era once Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers Enterprises complete their takeover at Ibrox.

The Gers have been through some tumultuous times of late after uncertainty in the boardroom, which has undoubtedly affected their performances on the pitch.

With the San Francisco 49ers potentially arriving at Ibrox soon, there’s hope among the fanbase that things will change for the good.

Patrick Stewart and Fraser Thornton’s arrival eased some of the uncertainty, but the Light Blues still have huge financial difficulties to deal with.

Cavenagh and 49ers to invest heavily at Rangers next summer

Supporters expect Cavengah and the 49ers to invest heavily in the Glaswegian outfit’s squad in the upcoming transfer window.

The prospective new owners will also need to make a decision on Barry Ferguson’s future at Ibrox, with the interim boss deserving of an extension on his current deal.

With the Bears 13 points behind Celtic despite the 3-2 win in the Old Firm derby at Parkhead on 16 March, there evidently needs to be a massive overhaul of the squad.

The future of players like Cyriel Dessers, Vaclav Cerny, Hamza Igamane and Nico Raskin is up in the air right now for different reasons, and the US consortium will be expected to handle the situation.

Cerny already emerges as first potential transfer at Ibrox after takeover

Cerny’s continuity at Ibrox beyond this season must be ensured after what he’s done for the Gers this season.

The Czechia international has been a pivotal part of the little success the Light Blues have enjoyed in the current campaign.

Ferguson’s team have made it to the Europa League quarter-finals after beating Fenerbahce, and the 27-year-old Wolfsburg loanee played a significant role in their qualification.

Rangers have been handed a boost to sign Cerny as an enticing option has emerged in the original loan agreement with the Bundesliga outfit.

Considering the expectations surrounding the prospective new owners, it would make sense for them to sign the 27-year-old once they complete their takeover.

The Light Blues need to keep their best players to compete with Celtic domestically, and failure to sanction Cerny’s reported transfer fee would show a lack of ambition from the Americans.

Cavenagh and the 49ers must make the Wolfsburg loanee the first signing of the new era at Ibrox after being handed an incentive on a player who is arguably worth more than £5.5m after what he’s done.
