Gabriel Martinelli supported by Arsenal teammates as major announcement made

Gabriel Martinelli has been supported by his Arsenal teammates after he and his fiancée Isabella Rousso announced their engagement.

Although it's not known how Martinelli and Rousso met, they have been dating since 2021. She is originally from Rio de Janeiro and is studying medicine.

Rousso has often showed her support for Martinelli at matches, whether that be at the Emirates Stadium or elsewhere. She has been spotted wearing a #11 Martinelli shirt.

Martinelli and Rousso have often shared their love on social media. On each anniversary - which is March 27 - the duo upload a heartwarming post on Instagram, showing memories during the last 12 months.

But this year, their fourth anniversary post is extra special. This is because Martinelli and Rousso are now set to tie the knot. Instead of using photos since March 2024, they posted footage from a photoshoot.

In an Instagram post shared on both Martinelli and Rousso's accounts, photos from a romantic date night at Corinthia London was posted. One of them included Rousso with the engagement ring on her left finger.

Rousso said in a caption: "happy anniversary to my best friend & fiance", alongside a love heart emoji.

Martinelli's Arsenal teammates were quick to react to the post. Mikel Merino, Jakub Kiwior, Thomas Partey, William Saliba, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Magalhaes and Myles Lewis-Skelly were among those to like it.

It's no doubt a memorable moment in Martinelli's life, and he will have more time to celebrate with Arsenal not in action until next Tuesday when they host Fulham in the Premier League.

The Gunners crashed out of the FA Cup in the third round back in January and haven't therefore got a game this weekend due to the quarter-final taking place. It means that by the time Fulham travel to the Emirates, Mikel Arteta's side won't have played for 16 days following the 1-0 win over Chelsea.

Martinelli returned to the Arsenal XI for the visit of the Blues after a spell on the sidelines. He had missed four weeks off action because of a hamstring injury but was back in the squad for the trip to Manchester United at the start of the month. He came off the bench at Old Trafford and also featured against PSV.
