How high can Kyshawn George go in his career? The Washington Wizards rookie has shown flashes of talent in his first year, nut it's clear that there are some areas that he can improve on. Despite his youth, George already has a lofty goal in mind for himself.
In a recent interview, George stated his intention to eventually play for Canada's men's basketball team in the future. The Swiss-Canadian rookie said that he wants to work on his skills this off-season, hopefully with the Canadian team.
"I want to work on my game this summer, whether that is in Summer League, in Washington, Team Canada," George said, via "The Canadian Basketball Show".
The Canadian basketball team has emerged as a dark-horse contender in the international scene. With players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, RJ Barrett, and Andrew Wiggins, Canada's basketball team is quite stacked. The Canadians placed third during the 2023 FIBA World Cup, beating Team USA in the bronze-medal game.
Could George crack the Canadian roster? It's not going to be easy for him, for sure. The Wizards rookie would compete with the likes of Barrett, Wiggins, Dillon Brooks, and Lu Dort at the swingman position. All four players are proven NBA talents who have contributed to Team Canada greatly.
That being said, even just an experience training with the national team could benefit the rookie. George is averaging 7.6 points per game in his rookie season, along with three rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Perhaps a workout or two with Team Canada could help the Wizards rookie improve next season.
