N’Golo Kante was part of the Chelsea side that created history when they won the Club World Cup a few years ago.
Back in February 2022, Chelsea beat Palmeiras 2-1 after extra time to win the Club World Cup for the first time in their history. Kai Havertz netted the match-winning goal from the penalty spot, which followed him scoring the winner in a Champions League final the year before.
At the time, Cesar Azpilicueta created history by becoming the first and only Chelsea player to win every available major trophy for the club.
The Blues will have the chance in the 2025 summer to win the trophy again as they compete in the Club World Cup. However, the major difference is that the tournament has been significantly expanded .
The Club World Cup will now feature 32 teams and take place every four years, while the previous version was contested annually by seven clubs from across the globe.

What N’Golo Kante said when Chelsea won the Club World Cup in 2022
Former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, 33, starred when they previously won the Club World Cup.
Kante said via The Evening Standard in February 2022: “We took it very seriously. For many of the players, we’ve never played this tournament, the club had never won it and to have the privilege to play it and win it is very special. It’s a very nice feeling…
“This is special. It’s a nice moment, we’re all together and it’s another trophy.”

Chelsea should definitely take Club World Cup seriously
Like Kante said, winning the Club World Cup was really significant for Chelsea and a “privilege”.
If you skip to the modern day, we think it would be huge for the young Blues group to emulate that. The current Chelsea squad should be extremely motivated to write their name into the club’s history by winning it, matching the feat of Thomas Tuchel’s side from a few years ago.
The expansion of the club tournament certainly adds even more glamour to it, so seeing Enzo Maresca’s side win the new format would be historic. There’s nothing wrong with getting into the habit of winning silverware, too.
It begins on 15 June in the United States, and the final will take place on 13 July.
It’s been confirmed by the Premier League’s official website that there will be two transfer windows for Premier League clubs this summer, allowing for new players to be registered before the Club World Cup.

If they’re looking for any further incentive,s it’s been confirmed on FIFA’s website that the winners of the Club World Cup will earn up to $125m (£97m).
Kendry Paez could make Chelsea debut at Club World Cup
It was confirmed back in 2023 that Kendry Paez, who turns 18 this May, will officially join Chelsea from Independiente del Valle after his 18th birthday.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed via X that Chelsea plan to include youngster Paez in their squad this summer for the Club World Cup.
It’s very exciting news that Blues supporters may not have to wait too long to see their incoming teenager in action.
The attacking midfielder, who’s already a senior Ecuador international, should benefit from time with the main group before next season even begins.
Estevao Willian, who turns 18 in April, is another teenage star on his way to Stamford Bridge from Palmeiras this summer. The difference is that he’ll compete with his current Brazilian side at the Club World Cup before moving to London. Interestingly, Estevao said he’d celebrate scoring versus Chelsea if Palmeiras faced them.
