_“And I thought Peter King was a clown?”_
This is an extra fun one because Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht literally sat down for an interview with the purveyor of this nonsense a month ago at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Joe’s referring to [_NFL Daily_](https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1157-nfl-daily-with-gregg-rose-29915968/) host Gregg Rosenthal, who’s best known for his work at NFL.com.
In a new segment highlighting “screaming needs” for each NFL team, Rosenthal kicked off the Bucs’ turn with this gem. “If they had a slightly better quarterback, I’d think they’d be in the inner circle of Super Bowl contenders,” Rosenthal said, referring to Baker Mayfield.
Man, that is one of the most moronic takes Joe’s heard in a while. Mayfield captains the NFL’s fourth-ranked offense at 29.5 points per game.
“It’s not hate; he’s great,” Rosenthal said of Mayfield after getting pushback from his production team.
“I think they would be in the inner circle of Super Bowl favorites if, like, Justin Herbert was their quarterback.”
So the Bucs ranked fourth in the NFL in total touchdowns with 59, and fourth in overall scoring while Mayfield completed 71.4 percent of his passes, but Herbert would make them a better offense. Got it.
Joe’s confident Licht will have an intern print him two copies of this post: one for Licht’s overflowing receipt box and one to send Mayfield on his birthday next month.
Rosenthal later said the Bucs only have “one real need” for the draft, and that’s at off-ball/inside linebacker.
