West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug is currently ruled out with a possible Grade Three injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that his lengthy spell on the sidelines means that it is a significant muscular setback.

The Germany international last featured for the Irons on 10 January, in the 2-1 loss to Aston Villa.

Fullkrug may miss West Ham clash v Wolves

Fullkrug appears to be ruled out with a very serious injury that’s kept him out for over 10 weeks.

Even if he’s ready for the Wolves clash, he is not going to be anywhere near 100 per cent.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said: “Based on the fact that he’s out for over 10 weeks, this sounds like a Grade 3 injury.

“Assuming he’s on track, would expect him to be ready for some bounce matches after the international break as he builds up match sharpness, but he still remains a doubt for the next one until he’s back in full training.

“Given the mechanism, very likely a significant muscular injury.

*“It doesn’t look like surgery is indicated, but if he continues to have trouble with this down the line, then surgery could be a possibility, which is often to remove the scar tissue.*“

West Ham and Graham Potter must set high standards for Fullkrug

The 32-year-old must hit the ground running post-injury to justify his place next season, and as Dr Brar mentioned, use the bounce games to his advantage.

He needs to regain match fitness quickly and prove he can fit into Graham Potter’s system.

Then, he must deliver consistent goals as he’s bagged just two all season, which is far from impressive for a striker of his price tag.

His physical presence and hold-up play should elevate Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus, enhancing the attack.

Staying injury-free is crucial as recurring setbacks will fuel doubts about his reliability.
