Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson. As it stands, that is the Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback room less than one month away from the 2025 NFL Draft.
While they wait for a decision from Aaron Rodgers after pursuing him for the last three weeks, the Steelers have eyes some NFL Draft prospects. The interest ranges from Jaxson Dart to Will Howard, and that has a lot of analyst believing the team will draft a quarterback in the first round.
Colin Cowherd reported on Thursday that one executive told him the Steelers ‘love’ Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe. That exec added he believes the Steelers would take Milroe in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
"I talked to an NFL exec last night, very well-connected, and this is a keep your head on a swivel, Aaron Rodgers. I’m told the Steelers really like Jalen Milroe, 21st pick, first round. So if Aaron signs with Pittsburgh, it’s going to become Kirk Cousins,” Cowherd said. “They’re taking a quarterback. If the 21st pick, Milroe’s not taken, Pittsburgh is leaning now and taking him.”
The Steelers have seen Milroe in a few different spots. First, they saw him in Mobile, Alabama, at the Senior Bowl. There, not only would they evaluate him at practice, but have sit-down meetings with him.
On top of that, the team sent the house, including Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan, to Alabama’s pro day. Milroe had dinner with Tomlin the day before the events in Tuscaloosa, so there is clear interest.
Milroe is thought to be a high-upside player with a strong arm and elite athleticism. He ran a 4.40 40-yard dash at Alabama’s pro day. Yet, his accuracy and pocket management remain a significant issue, and that could hurt his NFL Draft stock.
