LeBron James Strikes Mega Deal With Amazon to Distribute Podcast

After a successful first season of the podcast with J.J. Redick as co-host, who is now the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, Amazon and NBA superstar LeBron James have agreed on a multiyear deal for the digital podcast Mind the Game.

To replace Redick, LeBron has recruited former NBA head coach and star player Steve Nash. While Nash doesn't have initial plans to return to coaching in the NBA, this podcast could serve as a similar turning point for him as it did for Redick.

The podcast will be a part of Amazon's Wondery, its own podcast company, where it will be distributed across Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Music, Fire TV, and Echo devices. It will also be available on other typical podcast platforms.

Wondery and the original company that launched the show, Uninterrupted, will both work on the production and management of the series.

The goal of the podcast, as it was for the first season, will be to educate listeners on just how complicated and amazing the NBA is in its current state. While fans can easily follow what is going on from a basic level, there is much more than meets the eye when it comes to basketball.

LeBron is not only considered one of, if not the best player in NBA history, but he is also certainly one of the smartest, a big reason why plenty of fans tuned in for the first season to take in his basketball wisdom.

J.J. Redick was a great co-host, which led him to earn a head coaching gig, but Steve Nash should also serve as a great co-host for the second season.

He is a former coach himself, coaching the Brooklyn Nets from 2020-2022. As a player, Nash won two MVPs and was a great all-around point guard, leading a prolific offense for years with the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks.

Given the primary role of point guards is to run the offense and essentially be the head coach on the floor, Nash is well-qualified to join LeBron on his podcast. The second season should once again be successful and attract plenty of passionate NBA fans.

The first episode of season two will be released on April 1, not long before the NBA playoffs begin. With the Lakers currently sitting fourth in the Western Conference standings, it will be interesting to see what insights LeBron can provide and how locked in he will be on the podcast as a whole.
