Ashwaubenon preparing for road closures ahead of NFL Draft setup

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) - While excitement continues to build as the NFL Draft heads to Green Bay, the Village of Ashwaubenon is starting to close some roads to allow for the setup of the draft theater stage.

“Incoming and outgoing is going to feel a little bit different than what you typically expect on a game day and that’s primarily because, Lombardi Ave, a substantial part of that is closed and part of the draft campus so that road is going to change traffic patterns that you would typically see,” says Gregozeski.

Gregozeski says to help reduce congestion, GPS apps and rideshare drivers will update with alternate routes to navigate around the closures.

“All of them are being fed this information about where the closures are where the preferred routes are for inbound and outbound traffic so for fans coming from out of the area they plug into their Google maps and get directions it will give them directions to the roads that are open and the preferred routes we want them to travel,” says Gregozeski.

On top of road closures, those attending the draft will also have to find parking. Acts 1:8 Ministries president Jeff Van Beaver is opening their parking lot, as it can hold over 100 cars.

“Our location is only a couple of blocks from Lambeau, and you can actually see the top of Lambeau from our parking lot, so we’re convenient and easy to access,” says Van Beaver.

Cars can park there starting April 20th through the 27th, and guests can buy a week pass for $500 or daily passes ranging from $100-$150.

All of that money will go towards an outreach project close to the organization’s heart.

“We drill water wells in Africa. Right now we’re drilling wells Uganda and we’ve drilled just recently our 190th well and impacting a lot of lives that need water,” says Van Beaver.

To further assist drivers, the village is working with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to bring in portable message boards to alert drivers of delays and alternate routes.
