MANILA -- Social media spin related to the detention of former President Rodrigo Duterte at the International Criminal Court and disinformation about opposing candidates will be as prominent as policy promises in the campaign for the Philippines' midterm elections, analysts have predicted.
Campaigning begins on Friday for the May 12 vote, which is seen as a battle between the country's two most prominent political dynasties; those of incumbent President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Duterte, his predecessor.
