SOME THOUGHTS
*** This was a good performance for Watts. His 4.56 was solid, but it was better than a lot of scouts expected. Talked to a source prior to the workout that a lot of scouts were telling his people they expected him to run in the 4.6 to 4.7 range, so showing he was in the 4.5 range is really good. I was also told a couple of scouts had him faster than his official time. That got him a lot closer to the 4.50 that Malaki Starks ran at the combine, and his 35" vertical was better than Starks' 33" jump. Watts doing this at 205 pounds was also something to keep an eye on.
*** I don't think the 6-3.2 height is right for Evans. I've stood next to him, he's taller than 6-3. He also measured in at 6-5 at the NFL Scouting Combine. He improved his 40 (4.74 to 4.69), vertical jump (31" to 33.5"), broad jump (9'7" to 9'10"), 20-yard shuttle (4.4 to 4.38) and his 3-cone number (7.25 to 7.13). So overall a good performance for Evans.
*** Really good day for Jack Kiser. His 40-yard dash was really solid but his other numbers were outstanding. His 4.2 in the pro shuttle and his 6.8 in the 3-cone would have been tops at linebacker at the Combine. His vertical was good, his broad was good (neither were elite) and his bench was solid. But his movement numbers were really good. He did it at 229 pounds as well. Consider that Barrett Carter from Clemson (at 6-0, 231) ran a 4.64 in the 40, had a 4.41 in the pro shuttle, had a 34.5" vertical, a 9'7" broad jump. The only area where Carter had the edge was arm length (32 1/8" to 30 5/8").
*** Excellent day for Beaux Collins. He'll have solid production for his 4-year career (132 catches, 1780 yards, 14 TD) but his Pro Day performance will be his best draft bump. He measured in at just over 6-3 and 198 pounds. His 4.52 in the 40 was solid and better than expected. His 38" vertical was really strong and his 10'10" broad was really strong as well. The broad would have tied for 5th at the Combine. His 7.13 3-cone was average but his 4.19 in the pro shuttle (20 yard) was strong for a WR, but even more so for a 6-3+ guy.
*** RJ Oben had a good measurement/testing day as well. He's long (impressive 82" wingspan), had a really good 3-cone drill and some quality jump numbers. His 40 was pedestrian but he had some solid numbers.
*** I believe I said a year ago that while Jayden Harrison was really quick I didn't see a 4.3 guy, which is what we were told he ran when ND landed him. His Pro Day numbers backed up what we saw on film. He was very quick (6.76 3-cone) but his 4.57 in the 40 was not great. His 36.5" vertical and 10'2" broad were solid numbers as well.
