After having a spectacular season in 1992, Napoleon Kaufman (incredible name, by the way) managed to have another stellar showing for the Washington Husky football team in 1993. The man managed to record a second consecutive season where he ran for 1,000 or more yards. And his sequel was more impressive than the first time he did it.
If you’ll remember, [during that 1992 season, Kaufman ran for 1,084 yards and scored seven touchdowns](https://thehuskyhaul.com/reliving-the-washington-huskies-1000-yard-rushing-seasons-napoleon-kaufman-1992). That’s really impressive! But he also outdid that (considerably) in 1993.
During the 1993 Washington Husky football season, Kaufman managed to run for 1,299 yards (I really wish he’d gotten just one more) while averaging 5.7 yards per carry (that’s just ridiculous). Oh, and he DOUBLED his rushing touchdown total from the previous season as he scored 14 touchdowns on the ground in 1993.
That’s just insane.
Along with all of that, Kaufman managed to average over 118 rushing yards per game and played throughout the entire season.
Washington Husky football history: Napoleon Kaufman was even better in 1993 than in 1992, and that’s impressive
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking throughout the season, there were multiple instances where Kaufman really shined. Like against the Stanford Cardinal, a team he managed to gain 8.1 yards per carry against as he racked up 195 total rushing yards.
Or take the Oregon Ducks, for example. Against Oregon, Kaufman ran for 142 yards and scored a couple of touchdowns (including a 58-yard touchdown run).
Then there’s the Apple Cup. The good ole Apple Cup. A game that often involves truly remarkable rushing performances from the Huskies. We’ve examined a few instances already of Washington Husky running backs gashing the Coogs for a ton of yards. In 1993, Kaufman happened to run for 181 yards against Wazzu.
That’s pretty great.
And again, this was just his second (of three) season running for an absurd amount of yards. It really seems like he got better and better the longer he played for the Huskies.
