The Philadelphia 76ers are having one of the more disappointing seasons in the league this year after all of the high expectations they had coming in. Paul George was arguably the biggest free agent signing last offseason, and on top of that, the 76ers added several more players to the team such as Caleb Martin, Andre Drummond, and Eric Gordon.
Fast forward to this point of the season, and the 76ers are sitting at 23-50 and No. 12 in the Eastern Conference standings. Injuries have hurt the team the most, with a substantial amount of their normal rotation being out throughout the season. The biggest loss to the season was Joel Embiid, who had to be shut down after only playing 19 games.
With the team trying to work on a rehab and treatment plan for Embiid's left knee, it looks like they are coming close to a decision, according to Nick Nurse.
"I don't want to speak definitively - I think he's done seeing all the specialists," Nurse said via 76ers reporter Keith Pompey. "There may be one or - and those kind of turn into more discussions. I kind of just got up to speed on all of it today. But yeah, I think it's kind of, like, decision time, and there's so many opinions and weighing all that out and seeing exactly what's going to happen. I think we're close to that point of him making a decision on which route he's going to take. Just not quite there yet."
It is still uncertain if Embiid will be ready to go for the start of next season.
