Hawks Trae Young Joins Lakers LeBron James in Making NBA History

The Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat faced off for the fourth and final time of the season on Thursday night. With the season coming down to the final weeks and both teams looking to stay within the Play-In race, the game had the feel of a playoff temperature, but it didn't work out in the Hawks' favor as they lost 122-112.

Trae Young led the way for the Hawks with 29 points and 12 assists and did everything he could to reel them back into the game in the fourth quarter. Earlier in the game, Young made history by surpassing LeBron James in a certain category.

Young became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 12,000 points and 4,500 at 26 years and 189 days, surpassing LeBron James at 27 years and 31 days.

Young also became the sixth player with 12,000 or more points since he entered the league in 2018.

This season, Young is averaging 24.1 points and a league-best 11.4 assists per game. Young has had to step up his game in the second half of the season due to the injury of Jalen Johnson that caused him to miss the rest of the year.

Young is averaging 25.3 points and 9.8 assists in his seven seasons in the league.
