Barcelona boss Hansi Flick was full of praise for midfielder Gavi after [Thursday’s win over Osasuna in La Liga](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/3/27/24393729/barcelona-osasuna-la-liga-final-score-match-report-recap-reactions).
Gavi was back in the starting XI and ended up wearing the captain’s armband as Barca ran out 3-0 winners.
The midfielder has struggled for starts in recent weeks but Flick made it clear just how highly he rates the 20-year-old.
> “Gavi had a great game today. I’m very proud of his performance today,” he told reporters.
>
> “He suffered a serious injury, and he’s always ready, even when he’s coming off the bench.
>
> “He’s a very professional footballer. I’m delighted with him.”
The win moved Barcelona three points clear at the top of the table but Flick isn’t getting carried away.
> “There are still ten games left, and the match against Girona is the most important. We played well, and you could see the players had fun,” he added.
>
> “Of course, we need players like Pedri, Lamine, and Gavi, whose last few minutes I’m obviously satisfied with. I repeat, it’s not easy to play after the international break.
>
> “Ferran started today. I had spoken to him this morning, and I think he gave his all, scored goals, and understood what was needed in the game. I think it shows he’s focused.”
Barcelona have little time to rest with Girona up next and then the second leg of their epic Copa del Rey tie against Atletico.
