Today's Man Utd news as Kobbie Mainoo decides on exit with £37m transfer 'close'

Your Manchester United news headlines on Friday, March 28.

Kobbie Mainoo wants Man Utd stay

Manchester United are still locked in negotiations with Kobbie Mainoo over a contract extension at Old Trafford, sparking uncertainty surrounding his future.

However, TBR Football report that the 19-year-old midfielder's representatives have made it clear that he wants to stay at his boyhood club.

It's claimed that there is confidence among all parties that an agreement will be struck as they progress towards a positive outcome.

Discussions have been on and off since March 2024, and some reports have claimed that Mainoo wants to boost his weekly earnings from £20,000 to £180,000.

But while his fresh terms would be improved, United are unlikely to sanction such a huge leap as they attempt to bring the wage bill down.

Chelsea are said to be circling in case Mainoo and the Red Devils can't find a compromise, with his value at around £70million but he is expected to stay put.

Man Utd 'closing in' on Goncalo Inacio

Ruben Amorim might not be reuniting with Sporting stars Geovany Quenda or Viktor Gyokeres at United this summer.

However, A Bola report that the M16 giants are closing in on a £37m deal for Goncalo Inacio.

The Portuguese centre-back is represented by Miguel Pinho, who is also the agent of club captain Bruno Fernandes.

It's claimed that United are on the verge of sealing Inacio's signature to bolster Amorim's defensive options next season.

Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are set to leave as free agents when their contracts expire in July, while Harry Maguire is entering the final year of his deal.

The 23-year-old reportedly also has interest from elsewhere, though, with Borussia Dortmund linked.

Ruben Amorim's 'dream' signing

In attack, Amorim has reportedly named Southampton winger Tyler Dibling as a dream transfer target this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the United boss wants to add the 19-year-old to his ranks, potentially as a wing-back as well as an attacker.

However, interested parties could be deterred by Southampton's eye-watering valuation worth north of £100m.

The Saints are said to consider Dibling one of the world's best in his position in terms of potential.

A host of Europe's top clubs are also being linked with a summer swoop, including Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich.

Dibling is entering the final year of his contract at St. Mary's. Combined with Southampton's imminent relegation, it'd be a shock to see him remain on the south coast next term.
