Crystal Palace are extremely reluctant to see Daniel Munoz leave Selhurst Park this summer and will do all they can to keep him at the club.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 28-year-old remains a crucial part of Oliver Glasner’s plans.

He also explained that there is little Palace can do if the wing-back’s £25million release clause is triggered when the window opens.

However, the clause is unlikely to be straight-forward, while there is uncertainty about whether he will be subject to offers this summer given the Eagles’ stance.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider both Man City and Barcelona want to sign Munoz, but are considering a number of options for the position.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 13 March that Palace hope to keep their star players beyond the summer as clubs weigh up moves for the likes of Adam Wharton and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Crystal Palace determined to keep Daniel Munoz amid Man City interest

Interest from the likes of Barcelona and Man City has emerged as a result of his ultra-consistent performances and the energy he provides on the right-hand side.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Palace will pull out all the stops to keep Munoz at the club beyond the summer window.

“*There’s not a lot they can do when he’s got a release clause,*” he told Football Insider.

“From what I’ve heard, it’s around £25million, but I’m not sure it’ll be as straight forward as clubs just coming forward with the money at whatever stage in the window.

“He is another example of Palace’s good recruitment in recent years.

“He didn’t cost much at all, but he’s become a crucial player for them and now he’s attracting interest.

“Whether that interest will result in offers remains to be seen because there are a lot of options in that position if clubs are looking.

“But Palace want to keep him, especially because of the interest in their other players.

“Before you know it, you can lose three or four players who you planned to be the rock of your team.

“It’s a really tricky situation.

“If there’s anything they can do to keep him at the club and put clubs off, I expect they’ll be doing it.

“They’ll also be planning behind the scenes in case he does leave, who are they going to bring in to replace him and do the job he does?

“There are a lot of moving parts, but they’re hopeful of keeping him at the club.”

Oliver Glasner new contract emerges as priority at Selhurst Park

Speculation about a number of Crystal Palace’s first-team stars has been ongoing throughout the season and is expected to continue into the summer window.

However, the future of their manager has also become a key talking point as Glasner has just one year remaining on his deal and has attracted interest from RB Leipzig.

Football Insider revealed on 25 March that Crystal Palace are progressing in talks with Glasner and want to put an end to speculation regarding his future.

Following Dougie Freedman’s surprise exit from Selhurst Park, the Eagles are determined to avoid further upheaval ahead of an important summer window.
