Report: West Ham star rules out a David Moyes reunion at Everton

Everton will be busy this summer, and there has been some talk of a potential reunion between David Moyes and Tomas Soucek.

The Toffees have all but sealed their safety and will compete in the Premier League again next season.

Things were looking dicey a few months ago, but the appointment of David Moyes has turned out to be a masterstroke.

Moyes has Everton 17 points clear of the relegation zone, and preparations for next season are already underway.

We’ve already had some transfer links ahead of the summer window, and one player Everton are thought to be keen on is Tomas Soucek.

Soucek, of course, is very well known to Moyes after their time at West Ham United together.

But one claim has now been made to suggest a move won’t be on the cards.

Supposedly Everton and Moyes would like to move for Soucek.

We have seen the 30-year-old prove to be a capable Premier League player over the years, and he is currently on track to score 10 goals this season, which will be the third time he’s managed the feat.

Soucek has a great relationship with Moyes, with the midfielder recently admitting he’d go for a beer with the Scot.

But as far as playing under him again, that does not seem likely.

Because The Athletic actually reported yesterday that Soucek is actually keen to see out the rest of his career at West Ham.

This summer he’ll have two years left on his deal.

A shame for Moyes, but Everton should aim higher

Everton have been linked with Soucek with Moyes having heaped praise on the star recently. He said of the Czech Republic international: “Tomas Soucek is a really good goalscorer.

“We signed him as a goalscoring midfielder. He’s great in both boxes. He’s a top lad as well.”

He was a player he used plenty at West Ham, and the likelihood is that Moyes probably would fancy working with the 30-year-old again.

Appearances – 207

Goals – 32

Assists – 11

But seemingly, he’s currently settled where he is, having been there since 2020, and doesn’t fancy a change of scenery this summer.

While it’s a bit of a shame for Moyes, Everton should be looking to aim higher than him this summer, with the club able to release the purse strings. Everton should also be looking to bring down the average age of their squad.

Everton have been credited with an interest in Antwerp midfielder Mahamadou Doumbia, who looks a really good prospect and possible Abdoulaye Doucoure replacement.
