The Minnesota Timberwolves sale saga continues with longtime owner Glen Taylor remaining in control until the sale can be completed as he called it off in 2024.
Prospective owners Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez took the matter to an arbitration panel, which ruled in favor of the two buyers. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has given an update on what the sale looks like now.
The panel ruled in Lore and A-Rod's favor in mid-February, which was good news for them because they wanted to finalize the sale soon. This sale has been reported since 2021, and four years later, it has not been finalized.
A completed sale would clear the murky situation between Taylor and the prospective buyers. This is a cloud hanging over the team because it would be healthier for the Timberwolves and Lynx if the sale gets finalized soon.

Silver's Latest Update About The Sale
The slow-moving sale has been looming over the league because most people expected it to be done by now. In the latest Board of Governors meeting. Silver discussed the sale and provided some significant updates.

"On the Timberwolves, so where that stands is Glen Taylor does have the right to appeal, and I know he is considering his various options right now," Silver said on Thursday. "I believe he's also talking directly to Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez. We're on hold there and waiting for decisions among the parties."
Minnesota law states that Taylor could delay a final decision beyond August. The timeline is unclear because he might pursue other avenues, but it is likely that Lore and Rodriguez can finalize it soon.
What New Ownership Means To The Timberwolves
The Timberwolves and the Lynx have been steadily improving in their respective leagues. Superstar Napheesa Collier and the Lynx have even made it to the 2024 WNBA Finals, while the Timberwolves are not too far behind with a Western Conference Finals berth in 2024.
Anthony Edwards continues to ascend as the superstar, and he will require a strong supporting cast to succeed in Minnesota. New ownership could improve the team's roster moves because of the possible investment.

That happened for the Phoenix Suns when Matt Ishbia bought the team. Of course, there should be a balance for the ownership's willingness to spend because Ishbia's team is struggling due to bloated contracts like Bradley Beal.
While the sale is not yet final, it looks like Lore and Rodriguez will become owners soon. With a talented roster, the Timberwolves have a bright future, but it could get even better if Taylor finalizes his sale to the ambitious prospective owners.
