BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has been reflecting on Newcastle United winning the Carabao Cup Final, defeating Liverpool 2-1.
Although that scoreline certainly flattered Arne Slot’s side, who were very lucky to get away with just a one goal losing margin.
Looking back on that 2025 Carabao Cup Final, the BBC Sport man declaring:
“We all saw how much winning the Carabao Cup meant to Newcastle fans after their long wait for a trophy.”
As we all know as Newcastle fans, this ended a 56 year wait for a major trophy, 70 years for major domestic silverware.
That is all in the past though…
However, for other clubs, it has also been a long wait for a trophy, indeed, some have never won a major trophy at all, ever!
That could change though in the next two months and Chris Sutton has been previewing the eight clubs who are still in with a shout of winning the FA Cup.
The BBC Sport pundit stating:
“Liverpool and Arsenal are out, and City are clearly not the force they were, so this feels like a big chance for the other teams left in it to get some glory – I just hope they try to take it.”
These are Chris Sutton’s FA Cup quarter-final predictions this weekend:
