Andre Onana has broken his silence over a ruthless claim that Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim sent to his squad during his reign at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim has faced a difficult challenge — and uphill task — as Manchester United manager since his arrival at the Premier League club last November.
The 40-year-old United head coach made a real name for himself in his native homeland of Portugal and enjoyed incredible success at Sporting CP.
Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout after the Red Devils’ poor start to the 2024-25 Premier League season under the former United manager.
Erik ten Hag was sacked as United head coach last October and Ruud van Nistelrooy briefly took over as Red Devils interim manager in 2024 until Amorim’s arrival.
United currently languish in 13th place in the Premier League table and the Red Devils have only managed 10 league wins in 29 matches in the 2024-25 campaign.

Andre Onana drops his verdict on the eyebrow-raising claim of Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim
The Red Devils are currently on course for their worst Premier League finish since the formation of England’s top-flight league back in 1992.

Ruben Amorim’s men are unlikely to secure European football next season due to their lacklustre Premier League campaign.
However, Manchester United are still in the Europa League and winning the competition is the Red Devils’ best hopes of returning to the Champions League.
Amorim pulled no punches towards his United players back in January after claiming that he was managing the “worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United.”
The former Sporting manager’s comments came after United’s 3-1 Premier League defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford and the Red Devils were 13th at the time.
Amorim later addressed his remarks and suggested that he was referring more about himself, but Andre Onana claimed that the United boss meant every word.
When asked about Amorim’s ‘worst United team’ claim, Onana told Le Media Carre: “He means it when he said it.
“Football is a game of emotions, at that moment he said it because he meant it. Perhaps it’s the question we should ask him but the results are not there.
“It’s a frustration for us players but what are we going to do, we can only continue to work hard, to stay united, that’s how we can change the situation but the coach he got his message across which is clear.”

Andre Onana makes his feelings clear on the most difficult thing about playing for Man Utd
Onana, who has been away from Old Trafford on international duty with Cameroon, said that the “exposure” he faces at the Red Devils is a difficult challenge for him.
“The exposure. When it goes well you are on a cloud, when it goes badly, you are lower than that,” he explained.
“That is why it’s important to find the right balance, it’s not to forget what made you get there, there is a lot of pressure at this club.”
United will return to Premier League action post-March international break on 1st April, with Nottingham Forest hosting the Red Devils at City Ground.
