£20m star 'definitely' getting a big move after Newcastle United show an interest - David…

Newcastle United want to sign a striker this summer, and Liam Delap is on their radar.

The 22-year-old has performed very well for Ipswich Town, scoring 10 goals in 28 Premier League games.

His goal return has caught the attention of various clubs, with Newcastle interested in Liam Delap.

The Manchester City academy graduate is an option for Newcastle United, as they get set to bolster their forward line when the summer transfer window opens.

He is an intriguing option, but Newcastle may need Champions League football to sign Delap. The forward has lofty ambitions, and it would appear that his future lies away from Portman Road.

Liam Delap likely to leave Ipswich Town

That is the view of the Athletic’s David Ornstein, who has been asked about Delap’s Ipswich Town future.

While Ornstein did not offer a ‘concrete’ update on the striker’s future, he did admit that he expects Delap to secure a transfer away from Ipswich one year after his £20million arrival.

Ornstein wrote: “I definitely see Delap getting a big move, though, regardless of whether his current club Ipswich retain their Premier League status.”

Other strikers on Newcastle United’s transfer radar

A move away could be on the horizon for Delap, which will present Newcastle with an opportunity.

He has proven himself in the Premier League, and he is a player who a lot of Toon fans would love to see at St James’ Park.

Delap would certainly offer stronger cover for Alexander Isak, but it remains to be seen if that role would suit the England Under-21 international. Of course, there are rumours that the 25-year-old could leave the Magpies, but Newcastle are determined to keep Isak at the club.

His presence will influence Newcastle’s striker search, as Paul Mitchell is effectively aiming to land a forward who knows they will be playing second fiddle to one of the best players on the planet.

Jonathan David is also a target for Newcastle, with the Canadian superstar set to be available on a free transfer.

The Magpies continue to be linked Hugo Ekitike, who previously turned down a move to St James’ Park. He is likely to be in high demand, with Fabrizio Romano expecting Ekitike to leave Eintracht Frankfurt this summer.

Talk of Dominic Calvert-Lewin joining Newcastle has died down, but it would not be a surprise if his name re-emerges the closer he gets to becoming a free agent.
