Good morning Gang Green Nation! The New York Jets signed a much needed veteran wide receiver yesterday. Unfortunately, I’m not sure this particular wide receiver moves the needle much. In a move that doesn’t seem to fit the Jets approach to free agency thus far, the Jets added 30 year old Josh Reynolds to the wide receiver room. Reynolds is a well past his prime eight year veteran journeyman receiver who has never had a 650 yard season in the NFL. He was never very good, and by now he’s probably pretty close to done. In an offseason in which the Jets have up until now exclusively signed guys less than 30 years old, who have at least some chance of being around when the Jets might be competitive again in a year or two, Reynolds stands out as the odd man out. Certainly, the Jets have to fill a roster, and Reynolds was signed for relatively little money. It’s not a terrible signing on its face, but I just have to wonder how Reynolds fits into what seemed like the Jets plans. In any event, Reynolds is now a Jet and probably penciled in as a starter pending the results of the 2025 NFL draft.
