Marcus Rashford has indicated via his social media that he is taking on extra work while at Aston Villa, as he prepares for the return of domestic action. Rashford was recalled to the England fold by new boss Thomas Tuchel for the first time in a year during this international break.

That came as a result of a string of impressive displays since making the move to Villa at the end of the January transfer window, during which time has returned four assists in nine appearances.

Rashford returns to Bodymoor Heath this week after two run-outs in the Three Lions side, as they comfortably saw off both Albania and Latvia in World Cup 2026 qualifiers at Wembley on Friday and Monday respectively.

Via his Instagram account, Rashford has shown that he is carrying out more work on top of his Villa training, independently, in order to best prepare himself for making an impact in the forthcoming games against Preston North End, Brighton and Hove Albion, Southampton and Paris Saint-Germain.

He accompanied the photos with the caption "The extra 1%" and with football and flexing muscle emojis.

The post, with pictures showing Rashford working one-on-one in the gym, was liked by his England teammate and Manchester City winger Jack Grealish, who missed out on a place in Tuchel's 26-man squad after a season of comparative struggle.

The Villa academy product has produced seven goal contributions this term, although four of those came across FA Cup ties with lower league opponents Salford City and Leyton Orient. Grealish scored against Ireland in the Nations League win in September and again in Finland in October.

Playmaker Grealish has been linked with a move away from City this coming summer, after four years of routinely claiming silverware; he still has two years left on his contract but Villa, Newcastle United and AC Milan have all recently been linked with moves this summer.
