**West Ham** have reiterated their stance that on-loan defender Nayef Aguerd will return to the [London Stadium](https://www.claretandhugh.info/london-stadium-bio/) at the end of the season.
The Moroccan centre-back, currently impressing during his loan spell at La Liga side Real Sociedad, has earned rave reviews—prompting speculation that Spanish heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid could pursue a move for him this summer.
More recently, reports have suggested that Real Sociedad themselves may look to fund a permanent [transfer](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfer-news/) for the £30 million-rated defender.
However, Claret & Hugh have once again been told by a trusted London Stadium source that the 28-year-old will be returning to West Ham to be assessed by manager Graham Potter.
“The manager wants to take a look at him because we’re playing a back three,” the source confirmed.
With Aaron Cresswell having featured regularly as a makeshift left-sided centre-back, the club were already in the market for a naturally left-footed option in that role. The fact they may already have one on the books could save West Ham a lot of time, money—and hassle.
