Abdoulaye Doucoure is fighting for his future at Everton beyond this season.
Despite an option to extend his contract, the Toffees and the Friedkin Group decided against that, with Doucoure currently set to leave at the end of the season.
With Everton closing in on their move to Bramley-Moore Dock this summer, several contracts are running down, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin also nearing an exit.

Friedkins get brutal at Everton
Dan Plumley admits that there was always going to be a time when the Friedkins had to get brutal after sealing their takeover.
The football finance expert insists that Doucoure could still sign a new deal at Goodison Park, but with things looking so bleak before the takeover, decisions like this were needed.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
“We said that a lot of the time, as this played out, they are going to have to get brutal at some point,” Plumley exclusively told Goodison News.
“The finances have been in really poor shape, the way they’ve structured the deal has boosted the club significantly financially, but there is still a hangover from some of the challenges they have had.
“One of those is the player contracts and what they do with that squad in the future, and how they give new investment into the playing budget as well, so it was always likely they would have to get brutal at some point.
“For me, this could be one example of that starting, and it’s never-say-never in football, he may still sign a new deal and continue to be an Everton player, but they seem to be keeping their options open with that squad.
“I would view that as a positive thing, it may sound harsh on the players, but it needs that now for Everton to move on to the next phase.”

Memories are already starting to flood back ahead of the move to Bramley Moore, and many of those in recent years involve Doucoure.
The midfielder played a huge role in staying in the Premier League recently, and if he were to move on at the end of the season, he would be remembered fondly.
Over to you, Friedkins.
