Man Utd handed triple injury boost ahead of Nottingham Forest clash, one hasn't played a single game in 2025 - Journalist

The international break was a solid one for Manchester United, with injury woes being eased over the past two weeks.

This season has been a frustrating one for Manchester United in the form of injuries, with several first-team players spending long periods of time on the sidelines.

The injury record has had an impact on Ruben Amorim’s side and played a role in the reasoning behind United currently being sat 13th in the Premier League.

Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez were the two big blows for Amorim, with both being key to the system and among United’s standout performers. Amad is in a race to be fit before the season ends, but Martinez’s calender year could be over for United with his cruciate ligament injury.

Other injuries to Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw have all been frustrating for the club to contend with and highlighted United’s need for a rebuild this summer.

Now, Amorim has been handed five returnees.

Five Manchester United players return to training

After a two-week international break, preparations for the trip to Nottingham Forest are ramping up for United this weekend.

This has brought some positive injury news for fans, with five players back in training on Friday, as club media reports.

More United News

United have welcomed back goalkeeping duo Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton to training after the past few months, which have seen Elyh Harrison recognised as the backup goalkeeper.

The defence has also had some players return with Yoro, Shaw and Harry Maguire all returning to training on Friday.

This is Shaw’s first session of the calendar year, and he hasn’t played a minute for United since December. Amorim will be hopeful that Shaw can play a part in the remainder of this season with Ayden Heaven and Martinez both out.

It is also a boost to see Yoro back, with the Frenchman missing the last few games due to injury.

Who remains injured for Manchester United?

With all the returns, United’s XI will be remarkably stronger going forward, but despite the boosts to the defensive and goalkeeping departments, there are still a number of absentees.

Amad Diallo

Ayden Heaven

Lisandro Martinez

Jonny Evans

Mason Mount

Kobbie Mainoo

Within this list, five players would have a key role in this Amorim team if they were fit, which shows the magnitude of the injury situation that five have returned, but the list remains long.

United likely expect further returns in the coming weeks, with Heaven’s injury not considered serious and Mainoo’s return timeframe being early April.

With a maximum of 14 games left this season, hopefully, the squad remains intact, and we can make a serious push for the Europa League trophy.
