Man Utd trained at Carrington on Friday morning and here is the confirmed team news from the session.
Manchester United welcomed five players back to training on Friday morning ahead of a crucial couple of weeks in their season. United are not in action over the weekend, but face Nottingham Forest and Man City in the Premier League next week before their Europa League quarter-final tie against Lyon and a trip to face Newcastle in the league.
The upcoming run of fixtures is set to test Ruben Amorim's side to their limits, but there was some encouraging injury news for those matches with five first-team players back in training this week. United welcomed their international stars back to Carrington on Friday, in a training session broadcast live by club media.
United welcomed three senior defenders back ahead of the weekend, while there was also encouragement on the goalkeeper front. Here is a look at the confirmed squad members and the early team news ahead of the trip to face Forest next Tuesday night:
Manchester United confirmed training squad members
The headline news from Manchester United's training session on Friday morning is that Luke Shaw took part in the session after an injury-ravaged campaign. The 29-year-old has been sidelined for the past 17 weeks and has only made three substitute appearances for the side all season, and it is now over a year since he last started a match for the club.
Ruben Amorim won't rush the defender back to action but his potential return is a huge boost at a time when both Lisandro Martinez and Ayden Heaven are out injured. Heaven and Kobbie Mainoo were not involved in the latest training session at Carrington.
There was further good news, though, with Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro both involved. Maguire missed the last four matches after he picked up a minor issue in the FA Cup shootout defeat to Fulham, and Yoro missed the last two matches after an injury in the home draw with Arsenal. Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton also took part in the session after recent injury, along with academy quartet Godwill Kukonki, Bendito Mantato, Reece Munro and Jim Thwaites.
Confirmed training squad members (not necessarily a final list)
Onana, Bayindir, Heaton, Harrison; De Ligt, Maguire, Dorgu, Yoro, Shaw, Amass, Dalot, Kukonki, Munro; Mount, Casemiro, Eriksen, Collyer, Fernandes, Mantato, Thwaites; Obi, Højlund, Garnacho, Zirkzee.
