The Philadelphia Eagles may be the kings of the NFL following their dominant Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs, but that doesn't mean the rest of the league is willing to bow to them this offseason.
As the Eagles begin their title defense, there are many teams both in their division and in the conference who are looking to upstage them this season.
At the top of the list are the Washington Commanders.
CBS Sports writer Cody Benjamin teased Washington as the top contender to steal Philadelphia's crown this season thanks to a collection of veteran additions to their roster this offseason.
"They got trounced in the 2024 NFC title game, but the fact they made it there at all speaks to the franchise-altering talent of Jayden Daniels, whose rookie-year dynamism was even more pronounced than, say, that of C.J. Stroud the year prior," Benjamin wrote. "Now Daniels has a sturdier left tackle in Laremy Tunsil and a Swiss Army knife in Deebo Samuel to help fill out Dan Quinn's veteran-infused lineup."
Tunsil and Samuel are expected to be big parts of the team moving forward this season.
The next step is improving their defense, though.
Washington gave up 55 points in their conference title loss to Philly. They will need to be better with another year under the Quinn system. If they can get that done, the Commanders can truly be considered Philadelphia's top competition.
If not, though, then it may be a disappointing year for Washington moving forward.
