Nottingham Forest are said to be considering a move for Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez as they draw up their summer plans.
Strengthening their attacking options will be top of the Reds’ to-do list at the end of this season. Recruiting a striker has been on the club’s agenda for the past two transfer windows but without success.
A hip injury to Chris Wood, which has ruled him out of Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash with Brighton and Hove Albion (5.15pm kick-off), will only have sharpened Forest’s focus on that front. They have already been linked with several front men, and now a new name has been added to the list.
TEAMtalk report the Reds are “monitoring Nunez’s situation” at Anfield amid his future on Merseyside being in doubt. It is claimed Forest are “considering a move” for the 25-year-old in the summer as he is a player the club “admire”.
According to the report, Nunez looks likely to depart the Premier League champions-elect at the end of the campaign. Atletico Madrid are said to also be eyeing him up and are “evaluating the financial feasibility” of a deal, while Newcastle United have reportedly placed him on their shortlist of potential targets.
Nunez has struggled to find form for Arne Slot’s table-topping side this term. He has scored just seven goals in all competitions.
There is no mention of a specific price tag being placed on the Uruguayan’s head. However, TEAMtalk state it would take a “sizeable” fee to secure his signature as Liverpool do not wish to sell at a low price.
Forest will certainly need to strengthen head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad in the summer, especially if they secure Champions League qualification. However, sensible and considered business has been at the forefront of the club’s dealings of late.

This week, the Premier League confirmed dates for the 2025 summer transfer window. It will open on June 1 until June 10, then reopen on June 16 before closing on September 1. The change is due what has been described as “an exceptional registration period relating to the FIFA Club World Cup”.
The Reds remain the only team to have beaten Liverpool in the league this season. They have taken four points off Slot’s side, having won 1-0 at Anfield and then secured a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture at the City Ground.
