Jonathan David has been regularly linked with a move to Manchester United as Ruben Amorim steps up his search for a new striker.
One of the most notable issues for Manchester United this season has been a major lack of goals.
It doesn’t help that none of the senior strikers in the squad – Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee – are firing in front of goal and Bruno Fernandes is often the only player creating opportunities for his team-mates to score.
Hojlund and Zirkzee have 14 goals between them across all competitions this season, but United need a striker who can score more than that on his own.
That means goals and creativity are two issues that need to be addressed in the summer.
Ruben Amorim will hope that Ineos can back him in the transfer window, but United are bound to be reliant on player sales to raise funds in the summer.

Latest on Manchester United’s interest in Jonathan David
Lille goalscorer Jonathan David is set to be at the centre of a transfer scramble this summer.
The 25-year-old, who has netted 23 goals this season, can leave Lille for free when his contract expires at the end of the season.

David has been linked with moves to United, Tottenham, West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle. Those Premier League clubs could compete with Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and several Serie A clubs for the Canada international’s signature.
Despite having made contact with the player’s representatives, the i Paper understands it is unlikely David will sign for United because he isn’t the kind of profile Amorim is seeking to add to his attack.
The report adds that David’s camp has been impressed by what Graham Potter is planning for West Ham, while Chelsea is considered less appealing.
Four strikers Amorim could consider signing
The gossip columns are never short of Manchester United rumours.
As we approach another transfer window, United are going to get linked with more targets than most clubs.
Reports suggest that United are against signing Sporting CP talisman Viktor Gyokeres due to his age (27), which is a suggestion that Ineos are going to continue recruiting young talent.
United could turn their attention to other options in that market, including Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic or maybe Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
Some might argue Victor Osimhen will be the best option on the market with the 26-year-old set to leave Napoli when his loan spell at Galatasaray comes to an end.
