Popular coffee brand Grind is set to establish its first outpost outside London, following a deal with Gary Neville to occupy space in his iconic Manchester city centre development.

Grind has secured a 3,000 sq ft area at the No. 1 St Michael's scheme, a project spearheaded by Neville's Relentless Developments. The coffee brand will be joining an impressive roster of tenants at the development, including global Japanese-Peruvian restaurant group Chotto Matte and Paris-based Big Mamma Group.

In October of the previous year, Channel 4 also committed to a 12,293 sq ft space at No. 1 St Michael's, sharing the eighth floor with international law firm Pinsent Masons.

Other notable occupants include US-based S&P Global Inc, global computing company Arm, commercial law firm Hill Dickinson, and premium serviced office provider Gilbanks, all set to move in once the building opens.

Grind, founded by CEO David Abrahamovitch, offers products that can be found in major retailers such as Tesco, Waitrose, Co-op, Wholefoods, and Ocado.

In London, the company operates cafes in locations like London Bridge, Greenwich, Liverpool Street, Kings Cross St Pancras, and Canary Wharf.

During its most recent financial year, Grind saw its turnover rise from £21.6m to £28.7m, although its pre-tax loss also increased from £5.3m to £5.6m.

Richard Koch, former owner of Betfair and Plymouth Gin, holds the largest share in Grind.

Neville, director at Relentless Developments, said: "The ambition for St Michael's was to create a landmark that will become an economic driver for Manchester and bring together major names in a world-class, sustainable development.

"Attracting brands like Grind who have yet to set foot outside the capital is a massive achievement and testament to how hard we've been working to deliver our vision for the scheme and city as a whole."

David Abrahamovitch, the founder and CEO of Grind, remarked: "We've always said that if we were to do a big site outside of London, the first place we would go would be Manchester.

"My wife is Mancunian and her whole family live in Manchester, so I've spent a lot of time there over the years and I've always thought that a Grind would work well there.

"We've looked at various locations over the years, but thanks to Gary and the team at Relentless we think we've finally found the perfect home for Grind in St Michael's, in the heart of Manchester.

"We cannot wait to get open in the summer."

Metis Real Estate managed negotiations on behalf of the developer, with Distrkt representing the tenant. Kuits Solicitors were engaged to provide legal counsel.
