Arsenal are desperate to sign Alexander Isak this summer. But, it can prove tricky to land the Sweden International due to various reasons. Hence, Gunners have an alternative option which will is said to cost them £60 million.
Alexander Isak is one of the best strikers in the world right now. He has interest from multiple top clubs. Gunners have him as a top priority as Arteta believes he can help them to win the league title. However, it will be very hard to land the 25 year old this summer.
Firstly, Newcastle United are unwilling to sell Isak anytime soon. If the player forces the move, the club is expected to demand around £150 million which can be hard for Gunners to agree on. In addition, their is strong interest from Liverpool who are ready to break British transfer record.
Arsenal cannot afford to end this summer window without signing a striker. They have already paid a big price due to similar approach last summer. Hence, they have alternatives ready if Isak loses from their hands. As of now, they are showing interest in French striker.
Arsenal hold interest in 22 year old French striker
According to The Sun, Gunners view Hugo Ekitike as the alternative for Alexander Isak. Ekitike who currently plays for Eintracht Frankfurt is expected to cost £60 million. He also has interest from some more Premier League clubs which increases his chances of ending in England this summer.
Ekitike is 22 years old and is having a superb season right now. He has scored 19 goals and picked 8 assists in 38 games this season. Ekitike mainly plays as striker but can also play on left-wing if required. He does not have a release clause in his contract but is expected to move away from Frankfurt this summer.
