Ex-NBA player sounds alarm on LeBron James health and Lakers form

LeBron James has struggled since returning from a groin injury, and Kendrick Perkins believes he's only at 70-75% health, raising concerns about the LA Lakers' playoff push.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has played four games since returning from a groin injury, but he hasn't quite looked like himself.

According to former NBA player Kendrick Perkins, the 40-year-old LeBron is struggling with his health.

"The Lakers are in trouble. ... The most important thing LeBron James is not healthy," Perkins said on ESPN's First Take. "LeBron James is not healthy. I think he's probably about 70-75%. Again, we're talking about a time where you're supposed to be peaky, going into the postseason, and the Lakers are trending backward."

Since his return, LeBron's impact on the court has been mixed. The LA Lakers were outscored by 27 points against Chicago, 17 against Orlando, and 10 in Thursday night's 119-117 loss to the Bulls.

The only exception was a +5 performance against Indiana. Los Angeles went 1-3 in those games and now holds a 44-29 record, sitting as the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference.

The Lakers will wrap up their four-game road trip on Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies—a team they're currently tied with in the standings.
