The outside of the packaging shows a very long design with Seasonic and Noctua branding in the lower left corner. Brown accent coloring is present on the top and bottom, paying homage to the Noctua brand colors. On the right-hand side, the Prime Noctua Edition in metallic silver is shown, along with the TX-1600 model number. Also on the right side is the branding for a 12-year warranty.

Moving over to this side of the exterior packaging, we have all the specifications of the Prime TX-1600, complete with the number of cables and lengths. Remember, 1600 watts is the absolute maximum permitted wattage for a PSU in the USA. But the sweet spot for this PSU is 800 watts, ensuring the best efficiency.

Flipping the package over to the other narrow side, we are greeted with another brief explanation of the TX-1600's award-winning performance, its optimized fan grill, and Seasonic's impressive 12-year warranty. Going over the middle is another graph, this time showing the 80 PLUS Titanium energy efficiency rating. Lastly, on the far right are notations about the compatibility of the ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 and the fully modular cabling that features the Noctua color scheme.

Seasonic, as always, has packaged the Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition with just as much care as any other PSU they manufacture. Both the top and bottom of the Prime TX-1600 are protected with open-cell density foam to ensure no damage during shipping. Seasonic also placed the Prime TX-1600 in a soft drawstring bag to keep other debris away.

Removing all the packaging from the Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition shows the true brown coloring of this particular PSU. Dawn the Noctua "poop" brown trademark color, the main difference with this version of the TX-1600 is the color scheme as well as the PSU cooling fan. The fan, which is the legendary Noctua NF-A12x125, is known for its excellent performance while maintaining almost complete silence. Some may say that the downgrade of 135mm to a 120mm fan is at a disadvantage; however, this fan is renowned for its top-notch performance. Also, Noctua has specifically engineered the fan grille to make as little noise as possible.

The cable input side is littered with inputs, starting with the 10-pin and 18-pin motherboard inputs that make up the 24-pin motherboard cable. Next up are nine inputs for either CPU or PCIe cables. Two 12V-2x6 cable inputs labeled PCIe GEN 5 are located in the center. Lastly, in the left-hand corner are six peripheral SATA/Molex cable inputs. Again, the Seasonic and Noctua branding is on the lower left, and the PRIME branding is on the right corner.

Moving to the rear of the TX-1600, we can see the larger-than-normal and quite rectangular C19 power input. Again, due to the higher increased wattage and amperage, this type of input connection is required. Next to the power input is a very large power switch rocker and a hybrid fan mode button.

Going around to the outside of the TX-1600, we can now see some of the brown that has spilled over from the top fan grill. PRIME NOCTUA EDITION is also labeled in black here.

Now, peering inside the guts of the Prime TX-1600, we can see a very clean layout. Two main transformers, three large capacitors, and two good-sized PFCs make for a very stable platform.
Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition 80 PLUS Titanium ATX 3.1 PSU Review 19
Those three large capacitors are from Nippon Chemi-Con, which is 100% Japanese. They are rated at 420V and have 820 microfarads each, making for a massive 2460 microfarads in total capacitance.

Next are the two main transformers, model number VER42BB05 2435 W-LJ-B-C, arranged side by side. This configuration offers very good voltage stability.

Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition 80 PLUS Titanium ATX 3.1 PSU Review 23

Now, using the PSU test bench for this review, the CPU, which is the Ryzen 9 7950X, was set to 1.24v vcore to allow the CPU cores to stay at a 5GHz constant clock speed. The 16-core, 32-threaded CPU maintained the 5GHz clocks during the test period, while the wattage did run up to 211 watts but averaged out to about 175.5 watts. The AM5 motherboard used here is the B650 AORUS Elite AX, while the test RAM was from Patriot. Specifically, the Viper Venom runs at DDR5-5600M/t.
The NVIDIA RTX 3090 FE test GPU was power limited at 67% via the MSI Afterburner to control the GPU wattage. For this review, an additional Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity was added to attain the wattage needed for the 50% load efficiency test. On average, the NVIDIA RTX 3090s each drew on average about 232 watts; however, both RTX 3090s peaked at as high as 244 watts each.
The power drawn from the wall was measured using a Killawatt P3 digital electrical usage monitor, reading the total system wattage, which read between 789 and 815 watts during the testing, with the average usage being 802 watts. For the load efficiency, the TX-1600 managed to get to 95.5% efficiency. Remember, 80 PLUS Titanium only requires a PSU to be 94% efficient at a 50% load. Very well done, Seasonic.
Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition 80 PLUS Titanium ATX 3.1 PSU Review 24
25
All testing was completed using Aida64 Engineer's System Stability Test version v7.60.7300 for over 10 hours; the ambient temperature was 23C. Other monitoring software used was HWiNFO64 v8.16-5600, BenchLab v1.0.0, TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.63.0, and CPU-Z 2.12.0.x64.
My final thoughts on the Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition are quite good. Not only does the TX-1600 Noctua Edition fit the aesthetic design with all the brown accent coloring, but the performance is also top-notch. The styling for some may be off-putting, but no question, this is simply the best PSU money can buy. Constructed with 100% Japanese capacitors and premium board components, the Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition is not for the budget-minded, with a street price of $569.
That said, if you are looking for the end-all PSU and you don't have a budget ceiling, you can't do better than Seasonic's Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition ATX 3.1 PSU.
