Spotted: PL talent on trial in Leeds United U21 squad v Man United

Leeds United U21 faced Manchester United this afternoon in the PL2, in which the Whites had a Tottenham defender on trial.

All attention is on the Swansea City clash tomorrow, but for the next generation looking to break through into the senior squad, an U21 clash against Manchester United awaited on Friday afternoon.

At Thorp Arch, the Whites were looking to get one over their bitter rivals, with an unfamiliar face turning out for the home side.

A report from LUFC Youth has revealed that Leeds’ lineup to take on the Red Devils brought a trial outing for Tottenham full-back Calum Logan.

The 18-year-old penned his first professional contract in North London back in January 2024, but now could be under the microscope for a contract at Leeds.

He’s the second Spurs defender to be taken on trial at Thorp Arch, following Roman Egan-Riley’s previous trial, which came alongside Leeds-born striker Oakley Cannonier also spending time with the club.

Leeds draw 2-2 with Man Utd with goals from Cresswell and Gray

The encounter with Man United was as hectic as one would presume, with Leeds taking a 2-0 lead into half-time thanks to goals from Alfie Cresswell and Harry Gray.

However, the hosts couldn’t hold on as a second-half blitz saw the visitors equalise with two goals in the space of just four minutes, levelling from the penalty spot on 70 minutes.

A point sees Leeds U21s sitting 16th in the PL2, just inside the end-of-season playoff places, but having played two more games than Nottingham Forest, two points behind.

Another goal for Gray, hopefully another U21 signing too for Leeds

Leeds taking these PL players on trial is a good sign that the club are weighing up moves to bulk up the U21s and potentially save a lot of money in the process.

As for Gray, another goal at U21 level only goes to show that Leeds have a serious talent on their hands and one that could be making his debut in the near future.

There’s time for him yet before that happens, but he’s becoming harder and harder to ignore at the age of just 16.
