QPR Dev Squad suffered defeat to Ipswich Town U21s in what proved to be a topsy turvy affair at Rangers’ west London training base on Friday afternoon.
Despite goals from Rohan Vaughan and Emmerson Sutton, it would be the visitors who ran out victorious courtesy of a late spot-kick from Tommy Taylor.
And it was the Tractor Boys who started bright, Jamie Mauge touching home from close-range on 8 minutes.
The Super Hoops would later have Callum Loades to thank, with the R’s keeper on hand to deny Rio Morgan from point-blank range.
But, as we approached the final few moments of the first-half, Rangers would grow in attacking intent and would find an equaliser on 43 minutes.
Vaughan capitalising on reprieve – controlling the ball into the box before firing past Woody Williamson.

As we entered the second half, it would be the R’s who started on the front foot.
Sutton lashing home from the edge-of-the-box on 56 minutes – giving Rangers the lead for the first time in the afternoon.

However, just 8 minutes later, Mauge would be on hand to convert his and Ipswich’s second of the game, outmuscling his marker before finishing past Loades.
Both sides would have their chances, as they went in search of the elusive winner, substitute Esquerdinha clearing Afi Adebayo’s low effort off the line, with O’Brien threatening for the R’s.
But, it would be Ipswich who pounced, regaining their lead from the spot on 78 minutes.
Gabriel Cuthbert fouling Adebayo with Taylor stepping up and converting from 12-yards.
Rangers would push for an equaliser with Philip Sanyaolu going close two minutes from time, dragging his effort just wide from 20 yards after smart turn to earn himself space.
However, it would be Ipswich’s afternoon, with QPR Dev Squad back in action on Monday evening as they face West Bromwich Albion U21s in the Premier League Cup Quarter-Finals, kick-off 7pm.
QPR XI: Loades, Friel, Cuthbert, Manufor (O’Brien 62’), Shann, Trialist, Sutton (Esquerdinha 62’), Neziri, Neill, Trialist (Talla 81’), Vaughan (Sanyaolu 62’)
