Grizzlies Fans’ Reaction to Taylor Jenkins’ Firing Turns Heads

With just over two weeks remaining in the NBA regular season, teams continue to battle for playoff positioning.

As for the Memphis Grizzlies, they are currently fifth in the Western Conference, holding the same record as the Los Angeles Lakers, who are fourth (44-29).

Despite being on track to make the playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons, the Grizzlies announced on Friday that they have "parted ways with head coach Taylor Jenkins."

"I'm genuinely appreciative of Taylor's contributions to this team and this city over the past six seasons," Grizzlies President and GM of Basketball Operations Zach Kleiman siad. "This was a difficult decision, given the nsistent and tangible development of our players and overall success under Taylor's leadership. I wish Taylor the very best going forward."

Grizzlies fans wasted no time reacting on social media once the news broke, with many celebrating Jenkins' firing.

"LETS GOOO," one fan wrote.

"Bout time. Wizards need a new coach," another added.

"YES OH MY GOD," said a fan.

"I was praying for this moment," a fan wrote.

Many fans of other teams saw the Grizzlies fans happy about the move and were confused given their current playoff position and the timing.

"Grizzlies fans happy lol we might be missing something or they just dumb," one fan said.

"All grizzlies fans are happy too lmao what did I miss," another wrote.

"Why is grizzlies fans happy about this??" wrote a fan.

Jenkins was in his sixth season with the Grizzlies after being hired in 2019. He missed the playoffs in his first year and again last season.

During a three-year stretch where he guided Memphis to the postseason, the team fell short of reaching the Western Conference Finals, despite securing the No. 2 seed twice.

Currently, the Grizzlies are struggling, having lost five of their last seven games and posting a 6-8 record in March.

They'll look to turn things around in their first game without Jenkins on Saturday when they host the Lakers at FedExForum, with tip-off set for 8 p.m. ET.
