San Francisco 49ers may yet play a massive role in determining whether Rangers can complete a permanent transfer for Vacval Cerny.

The Czechia international signed for the Gers on loan from Wolfsburg last summer, and it has been claimed there’s a £5.5million buy clause in the original deal [Record Sport].

Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers must sign Cerny for that bargain fee if they complete their potential takeover in the coming months.

Barry Ferguson’s recent success at Ibrox has arguably been down to the 27-year-old winger’s performances, and the interim manager will undoubtedly want him to stay.

Rangers takeover to affect possibility of Cerny transfer

Cerny’s permanent transfer to the Glaswegian outfit depends on the prospective new owners coming to Ibrox, Andy Walker says.

Walker feels the Gers won’t be able to pay £5.5m for the Czech national without a financial boost from the US consortium.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (27 March), the Scotsman said: “I think everything depends on where Rangers are going with this potential takeover. There’s talk of a lot of money being invested if it goes through. If it doesn’t go through, I can’t see them coming up with £5.5m for Cerny.”

49ers must make Cerny their first signing at Ibrox

Cavenagh and the 49ers have a no-brainer decision to make on Cerny, considering the relatively cheap buy option in the original loan deal.

The Americans will have to make a statement once they arrive through the doors at Ibrox, and nothing will highlight their ambitions more than completing the Czechia international’s permanent transfer.

With the Ibrox faithful expecting the Light Blues to compete with Celtic once again next season, they need to keep a hold of their best players.

Cerny has been monumental for Rangers this season, with his goalscoring contributions helping them reach the Europa League quarter-finals after beating Fenerbahce.

If the 27-year-old returns to Wolfsburg, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the German outfit demanding a hefty price tag from potential suitors next summer.

The Glaswegian outfit will have to arguably reinforce their squad with a new quality right-winger in the upcoming transfer window if they don’t keep the Czech star.

While the Bears seem to be moving to a different recruitment model, with the addition of young players being prioritised, they need the experience someone like Cerny can bring to be successful.
