Chelsea eyeing move for Serie A ‘keeper

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca will hope to see his side return to winning ways when they face Tottenham Hotspur at the start of April.

The Blues were b eaten 1-0 by Arsenal in their final outing before the international break, meaning the West London side have now won just four of their last 13 Premier League games.

That run of form has seen Maresca’s side slip from fourth to second in the Premier League table, and the Italian will be desperate to see his side improve in the final weeks of the campaign and ensure they qualify for next season’s Champions League.

This summer the London outfit could look to bolster Maresca’s squad, and it appears that they have their sights set on a Serie A star.

According to CaughtOffside, both Chelsea and rivals Manchester City are monitoring the situation of Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar.

The 25-year-old has been in fine form for Roma this term, keeping 14 clean sheets in 42 games across all competitions.

Robert Sanchez has been criticised for his performances this season

His impressive form has attracted interest from elsewhere, though, with Chelsea, City, and Newcastle United all keeping tabs on the player.

Svilar joined Roma from Portuguese side Benfica in 2022 and has since played 76 times for his current side.

The Serbia international’s current contract with Roma is set to run until 2027 but the report claims that the player has currently rebuffed the club’s attempts to agree an extension.

Current Chelsea number one Robert Sanchez has been heavily criticised for some of his performances this season while Filip Jorgensen – who temporarily moved ahead of his teammate in the pecking order – has also failed to impress.

It appears that the poor form of the duo has prompted those in charge of Chelsea’s recruitment to look for a potential new ‘keeper, and Svilar has emerged as a potential target due to his current contract situation.
