Coming into the last quarter of the Premier League season with nothing to play for is a novel, if strangely unwelcome feeling for Hammers fans after years of melodrama from chasing European spots or avoiding relegation – neither of which are on the horizon this season.
So the remaining nine games are worthless, then, with no possibility of relegation or elevation into the European spots there is just a small matter of PL prize money to play for.
Not quite.
It is now quite clear that in the last nine games, several Hammers players will have their future at London Stadium hanging in the balance. [Thewesthamway.com](https://www.thewesthamway.com/2025/03/28/will-leave-exwhuemployee-west-ham-departures-set-for-potter-era/) put it quite succinctly:
_“Players will already be aware that they are playing for their futures.”_
Those affected and whose Claret and Blue careers hang in the balance include Andy Irving, Niclas Fullkrug, Emerson Palmieri and Konstantinos Mavropanos whilst the club has already confirmed it ‘will listen to offers’ ( i.e ‘sell’) Rodriguez and Guilherme. Six, then who have futures in the balance and all to play for before 1 June.
Add in the ‘out of contract’ players who are certain to be off – Coufal, Ings, Fanbianski – whilst Cresswell and Antonio are still probably in the ‘to be decided’ category – and that is potentially eleven out before the Paquetá and Kudus situations are clarified: There is a strong possibility that the starting eleven in August could consist of nine new players!
So everything to play for, certainly for those on whom the jury is still out. Perhaps these last nine games might yet have some jeopardy to make for more attractive viewing, then.
