Uh oh: Club now readying contact to sign Ipswich Town star who could leave with Delap – report

Ipswich Town could soon receive contact over selling another star player alongside striker Liam Delap this summer.

Multiple clubs keen on Liam Delap as Ipswich Town eye replacement

With relegation from the Premier League looking like a real possibility Kieran McKenna’s side, clubs are already circling for star forward Delap ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old has starred since joining from Manchester City in the summer, scoring 10 top-flight goals in 28 appearances. A number of English giants have been linked with making a move for Delap ahead of the 2025/26 season, including Liverpool and Chelsea.

Manchester United have also made contact over a potential deal for the Ipswich star, who looks set to be a real man in demand over the coming months.

Pundit Paul Robinson previously made a claim on Delap’s future, should Ipswich go down, saying: "Ipswich will do very well to hold on to him. If they don't survive in the Premier League, you can't see his future being there.

"He is a pest. He is a nuisance. He is always there on the shoulders of the centre-backs. He is making runs in the channels. He is always available. When it looks like he isn't going to win the ball, he puts his body in between the player and the ball, somehow managing to win a free-kick or something for his team. He is a top, top player."

He's been impressive this season.

Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland has been identified by Ipswich as a possible replacement for Delap, with the Scot out of contract at the end of the season.

However, Ipswich may also need to be on the search for a new winger, going off another worrying transfer update.

According to reports in Turkey, relayed by Sport Witness, Besiktas are keen on signing Ipswich Town attacker Jaden Philogene and are lining up an offer.

The update states that Besiktas ‘will be looking to rent the attacker as they prepare for next season, and will make contact with Ipswich Town in the near future’.

Jaden Philogene

As we know, Philogene was Ipswich’s marquee signing during the January transfer window, coming in for £20m from Aston Villa.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the man in charge of the Istanbul side and is looking to raid the Tractor Boys having also been linked with Delap, the report adds.

Ipswich have had their eyes on Peterborough United Kwane Poku this season and Don Goodman has recently backed him to be an “exciting” signing in the Championship, so perhaps he could take Philogene’s place if he departs for Turkey and the Tractor Boys suffer relegation.
