Eagles Hire Chip Kelly Former Assistant To Coaching Staff

The Philadelphia Eagles announced their complete coaching staff for the 2025 season on Friday, finalizing a group that includes two promotions and five new hires to head coach Nick Sirianni's staff.

Greg Austin returns to Philadelphia as assistant offensive line coach after spending two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he served as assistant offensive line coach (2024) and offensive quality control coach (2023). Austin, 40, previously worked under Jeff Stoutland during Chip Kelly's tenure from 2013 through 2015. He began his coaching career under Kelly at Oregon in 2010 before following him to the Eagles.

During his first stint in Philadelphia, Austin helped develop an offensive line that paved the way for LeSean McCoy, who led the NFL with 1,607 rushing yards in 2013. After being promoted by the Jaguars in 2024, Austin contributed to an offensive line that allowed the seventh-fewest sacks in the league (32, tied). Between his time with the Eagles and Jaguars, Austin also coached at the University of Central Florida, Nebraska and Florida International.

Austin replaces T.J. Paganetti, who served as run game coordinator and assistant offensive line coach last season but departed to join the New Orleans Saints under offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Paganetti, like Austin, also coached under Kelly at Oregon and with the Eagles, as well as under Doug Pederson. Roy Istvan, who was Stoutland's assistant offensive line coach from 2019 through 2023, also left to take a position on Kevin Stefanski's staff with the Cleveland Browns.

Kevin Patullo was promoted to offensive coordinator on Feb. 19. Entering his fifth season with the Eagles and 16th in the NFL, Patullo previously served as passing game coordinator since 2021. He also added the title of associate head coach in 2023.

Parks Frazier joins Philadelphia as passing game coordinator after spending 2024 as an offensive assistant with the Miami Dolphins. Frazier has a connection to Sirianni, having worked with him during the 2020 season with the Indianapolis Colts, when Sirianni was offensive coordinator. Last season, Frazier helped Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa lead the league with a career-high 72.9% completion rate while producing a 101.4 passer rating.

Scot Loeffler comes aboard as quarterbacks coach, bringing nearly three decades of collegiate coaching experience. He most recently served as head coach at Bowling Green from 2019 through 2024, leading the program to back-to-back bowl game appearances for the first time since 2014-15. In 2024, Bowling Green quarterback Connor Bazelak earned All-MAC honors after posting a conference-best 66.9 percent completion percentage.

Montgomery VanGorder joins as offensive quality control coach after spending the past six years in the same role at Georgia. This will be VanGorder's first NFL position. During his tenure with the Bulldogs, he contributed to two College Football Playoff National Championship-winning teams. In 2024, Georgia ranked 12th nationally in passing yards per game (281.0).

Tyler Yelk was promoted to defensive assistant after serving as head coach of quality control in 2024 and assistant to the head coach in 2023. Last season, Yelk worked with a coaching staff that guided the Eagles to an NFL-record-tying 18 regular-season and postseason wins, culminating in a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. Philadelphia led the league in several defensive categories, including total defense (278.4 yards per game) and passing defense (174.2 yards per game).

Cole Peterson was named assistant to the head coach after serving as executive director of football operations (2023-24) under head coach Trent Dilfer at UAB. In his first year at UAB in 2023, Peterson was a finalist for the FootballScoop Football Operations Director of the Year Award.

With their staff now complete, the Eagles turn their focus to defending their Super Bowl title as they prepare for the 2025 NFL season.
